Teaching skills in music & life
Piano Lessons
Piano lessons were an important part in making me who I am today, and that's not just because I’m a professional pianist! From my piano lessons I gained: the love of music, skills in communicating with people, self-confidence, discipline, responsibility, etc...
As a piano teacher, my goal is to pass on skills in playing the piano, as well as the many life skills that can be gained from music lessons. I want each student to be able to make & appreciate music for the rest of their lives, in whatever way they choose.
I have been teaching piano lessons since 1997 and I enjoy teaching students of all ages and skill levels. The teaching methods and materials that I use are specific to each student. There is so much material written for piano that there is truly something for everyone!

FAQs
WHAT ARE THE AGES OF YOUR STUDENTS?
The youngest students I accept are 4 years old, although that's not a hard and fast rule. The oldest student's I accept...? Well let’s just say that they don’t tell me their age! :)
DO YOU TEACH COMPLETE BEGINNERS?
Yes! Of course!
WHAT WILL I LEARN IN PIANO LESSONS?
This will depend on your background and goals. My goal is to give my students the tools they need to be successful in making music for the rest of their lives. Some of those tools include: reading music, musicianship skills, music theory, ear training, sight-reading, music history, healthy technique, and how to practice. I incorporate different styles of music, based on the student’s interests and goals.
WHERE DO YOU TEACH?
I teach out of my house in North Park, San Diego, CA (92104). I also teach online lessons on Zoom.
I DON’T LIVE IN SAN DIEGO. DO YOU TEACH ONLINE LESSONS?
YES! I have several students who are in the same situation and we love online lessons! I’ll help you get set up to make sure that it works really well for us.
DO I NEED A PIANO TO TAKE LESSONS?
Yes! The majority of your progress and success in learning how to play the piano depends on the time you're willing to practice on your piano at home.
CAN I BUY A KEYBOARD INSTEAD OF A PIANO?
This question is debated among piano teachers. We all get asked this question! There is a large range in the quality of keyboards. If you're willing to invest in a GOOD full-size keyboard that has the technology to imitate the FEEL and SOUND of a real piano, then that might be enough...at least to start. It depends on your purposes for learning piano. Just remember, it's NOT a real piano! Because the majority of your progress comes from the time you invest at home playing your instrument, the quality of that instrument is crucial to your success! Feel free to talk to me more about this question.
